A Flash game I made as part of a semester-long group project in RPI's Game Production class. I handled all the art and animation, and came up with the powerup-combining game mechanic. Our team was noteworthy for not just completing our project, but completing it ahead of schedule, giving us a little time to work out bugs and fine-tune it. Flash has now met an untimely demise, but the game is still playable on Kongregate and Newgrounds with the help of their special players.
The creature designs were loosely-inspired by the Cambrian Explosion. For the recurring boss monster, I built a long, segmented monster with interchangable parts, so different sections could be put together to create different challenges. Flashing orbs would shoot energy bolts at the player, limbs would sweep out to catch them, and the wings would increase the monster's speed. Individual segments can be destroyed with enough damage.
